THE NEW POETRY AUSTRALIA (BLUE DOG: AUSTRALIAN POETRY} IS COMING

The first issue of the new Poetry Australia, to be published under the auspices of the Poetry Australia Foundation, will be published in May this year (2002), and, thanks to the Australia Council, it will pay contributors.
The new Poetry Australia will carry poetry, reviews and articles about poetics and will appear twice yearly for the first two years. If resources allow, it will become a quarterly from 2004.
The new magazine is to be called BLUE DOG: AUSTRALIAN POETRY
The first issue is due out at the end of May
Submissions for the second issue close on 31st August.
Poetry editors have been appointed to select the poetry for each state. They are: Debbie Comeford (Queensland), Marcella Polain (WA), Louise Thomason (Tasmania), John Leonard (Victoria), Brook Emery (NSW). We hope that Jan Owen will choose for SA and NT, but that will not be confirmed until she returns from overseas. In the meantime, John Leonard will make those selections. The editors will make their selections anonymously.
Contributions to the magazine are now being sought. Intending contributors should note the following:
1. Please do not send more than five poems in any one submission.
2. For reasons of anonymity (see above) do NOT put your name or address on the poems.
3. If you would like your poems returned, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
4. Do not send poems by email of fax; only poems received by mail will be considered.
5. Reviews and articles on aspects of poetry and poetics are welcomed and, if accepted, will be paid for. Please do not send prose fiction or reviews of prose.

Although contributors' fees are supported by the Australia Council, costs of production and distribution will be carried by the Poetry Australia Foundation. Your purchase of a subscription to Poetry Australia would materially assist us.
Subscriptions: 12 dollars fifty per issue posted or 20 dollars for 2 issues.
5 dollars per issue surcharge for copies posted overseas.
Discounts through the PAF Book Club will be available. Details will be sent to members shortly.
